Tactile feedback
Tactile feedback is important in learning
One of the most important elements in laparoscopic techniques is the ability to feel the movements of the instruments and the relative resistance that is created by the manipulation of the internal organs. This feeling is depicted in the term “tactile feedback”. There is no way to grasp and lift a structure (e.g. a cyst), if the hand does not feel the weight and the resistane of the tissues.
This particular element of training is completely covered by the iQLap. In any iQLap training module, the clinician has the original feeling of manipulating objects and tissues. The trainee feels the weight and resistance of the objects just as in the real operating theatre. This simulation acts positively in developing automated movements and attitudes, which are very important in advancing performance in the operating theatre.
