iQLap v5.1 is an advanced laparoscopic simulator, which has been designed and developed to offer unique training opportunities to surgical trainees. iQLap v5.1 consists of a 1:1 human body dimension virtual abdominal chamber and integrated electronics (cameras, micro-processors etc). The trainee has the ablity not only to work and train on different training modules, but he/she can also record and document all of his/her performance.

The percise human dimensions of the virtual laparoscopic chamber forces the trainee to use a realistic position during training. This is particularly important in mastering laparoscopic skills in a realistic way, the same as he/she will be asked to perform in the real operating theatre. Additionally, precise human dimensions gives the advantage of a correct depth of insertion of the laparoscopic instruments inside the virtual peritoneal cavity. This leaves the correct lenght of instruments outside the laparoscopic cavity, thus accurately simulation the correct extend of motions that are needed to complete a specific task.
